First a wax pattern is created and the pressing materials are assembled: a ceramic ingot and Alox plunger.
Invest
The wax pattern is then encased in an investment material.
Wax Burnt Out
The wax is burnt off in a furnace.
Pressable Furnace
The ingot and plunger are placed into the investment mould. This is then put into a special 'press' furnace.
Press Ceramic
The ingot is then pressed at high temperature (1075°C or 1150°C) which injects the ceramic material into the voids in the investment mould.
Remove Investment
The mould is removed, cooled, and sand blasted to retrieve the ceramic copy.
Finish
The restoration is then removed (cut off) from its sprue, and either stained, or built up with further layers of ceramic material, to achieve the final result.
