Laboratory Techniques: Margin Preparation

A dentist will prepare a tooth to accept a restoration. Identifying the finished margin enables the technician to create a seal, which will blend the crown to the natural tooth. (Tips on tooth preparation from Studentdoctor.net)

Any undercuts (voids), exposed during the model casting process, must be blocked out using a surveyor and blocking out wax. We use an Amann Parallelometer AP100 surveyor.
