By definition, Crowns and Bridges restore lost or broken dentition. Each item is bespoke to an individual and is largely hand made.
A vast range of techniques are required to cover the materials now available on the market. In this section we demonstrate the use of gold alloys in the restorative field.
Gold alloys can be used to construct supporting frames, or full gold restorations.
Probably known best as the oldest restorative medium in dentistry, gold is still used as a primary material, and is demonstrated in the images above at the "pattern making" stage, along with two means of joining alloys together: soldering and laser welding.
Soldering and welding are two ways of joining metal component parts together. These techniques are used in the laboratory to construct complex metal substructures which form metal supports for dental appliances.
Laser Welding
Pinpoint welding accuracy can be achieved using a laser welder.
